I’ve been working on the next album for a while now—since before Wizard Planet was released. For the last month or two, it’s been crunch time, trying to finish the record in time for a 2012 release. I don’t think I’m going to make that deadline, but I won’t miss it by much. I’m not ready to pin down a final release date, but I’m now guessing the next album will come out in late January of 2013, thirteen months after Wizard Planet, which was officially released on December 13, 2011. That’s a lot of thirteens!
While I might be able to get everything ready for a December release, that’s a pretty busy month for the world, with people celebrating various holidays and whatnot. Music journalists like to spend that month reflecting on the past year and making annoying lists. Rather than once again dump a collection of musical gems into the wasteland of December Christmas cheer, I have elected take an extra month to really polish it and then release it into the loving embrace of the new year.
There’s still some stuff to look out for in 2012, though. I will soon be sending out the fan club newsletter, and I’ll also be printing a batch of t-shirts (for fan club members and anyone else who wants one). Also, the Nicholas Burgess live band has been practicing for a while, and I’m looking to start playing these songs live very soon.
While I’m in news mode, I should warn you that Wizard Wednesday will be ending soon to make way for a new series of weekly posts that will be tied to the new album. Get pumped!
