The next album is nearing—slowly nearing—completion. Right now I am mixing instrumental tracks. I have eight and a half mixes done, out of ten. Then, vocals will be added, the mixes will get one final polish, and the album will be ready for mastering.
Unfortunately, vocals and mixing are two of the hardest parts of making this kind of music. Mixing can be fun when it’s going well, but in my experience, it’s almost never going well. Everything seems hopeless until the last few adjustments. It’s like a video game boss fight, where all of the skills you’ve learned so far are tested, and you die over and over again trying to figure out the proper strategy.
I’m working as fast as I can, though! It won’t be too long now before you can hear some of the new music yourself.
On a related note, I’ve also assembled a band to play some live shows, so pretty soon that “shows” link above will become much less useless!
