Wizard Wednesday: Wizard of the Vibes
It’s nice to have a fairly deep selection of relaxing records in your home. You need the right music to relax in style. It’s hard to reach a laid back state while listening to Nine Inch Nails, for instance. Some of the best relaxing music is from 50 years ago or more, before the western world discovered rain sticks, synth pads, and wind chimes.
One good choice is Milt Jackson’s Wizard of the Vibes. It won’t put you to sleep, but it won’t make you angry either. The cover art won’t tire your eyes out with too many colors. It’s good music for sitting in a nice chair and reading a magazine from 1974 while drinking something out of a bicentennial glass.
The album is definitely available on CD, but I’d suggest listening to the actual record and not on headphones. The pressure on your head would ruin the vibes (double meaning alert).
